ANNUAL MEETING:
The Marshall County Poultry and Egg Association annual meeting was
held August 1, 2008, at the Guntersville Civitan Park. Approximately 350
people attended. David Hodges of Guntersville won the John Deere Gator.
Twenty-two vendors were present exhibiting their products. The eight
scholarship winners were recognized along with their parents (see
Scholarship Winners below). The scholarship winners were presented their
scholarship checks in the amount of $500.00 each. Numerous door prizes
were awarded.
J.D. GATOR TICKETS:
Approximately 161 J.D. Gator tickets were sold for our 2008 annual
meeting. David Hodges of Guntersville won the gator. The proceeds from
this event will help sponsor our scholarship program.
INTERNATIONAL
POULTRY EXPO:
The Alabama Poultry and Egg Association, The Alabama Cooperative
Extension System and the U.S. Poultry and Egg Association are providing
free bus service to the International Poultry Expo at the Georgia World
Congress Center in Atlanta, Ga., on Thursday, January 29, 2009. The bus
will depart at 7:00 a.m. CST from the Guntersville Recreation Center
Ball Field Complex parking lot for hassle free transportation to the
front door of the Georgia World Congress Center and will return around
7:00 p.m. There will be a $5.00 registration fee at the Expo.
While the bus is completely free of charge, growers must reserve a seat
on the bus. You can do this by calling the Marshall County Extension
office at 256-582-2000. Seats are available on a first-come, first-serve
basis, so call today.
